| Blackpool Empress Ballroom - 11th November 2005 |

The second time in two days of seeing them in the magnificent surrounding of the Empress Ballroom. This time we had our 6 year old son (Ewan) with us so we decided to try and get to the balcony area which has a few seat. With a bit of luck etc we managed to be let into the seats before anyone else. The 1st band on where the Greenhorns who are a three piece playing 60’s influenced American rock, they did seem to lack tunes and went on too long on a couple of songs. The Bass player who appeared with the White Stripes the night before is also in Blacnche who supported the White Strips on their last UK tour and are part of Jacks gang of mates.
When the white stripes come on stage they go straight into the 1st song which tonight is not “Blue Orchid” which comes second on the list. The set if again a good mixture of new and old and a different selection of songs from the night before. At one point Jack has a problem with a guitar so they abandon the song easily replace it with another song. You get the feeling its all a bit easy for Jack as he blasts thru the songs switching guitar playing a bit of piano with his guitar still strapped to him. Meg gets her chance in the spotlight again whilst Jack sit down at the back of the stage with his back to the audience. When they go off a few of the audience know the script this time and move to the small stage waiting for them to come on there, which they do. They play 3 or 4 acoustic songs and then say the audience most keep clapping whilst they run back to the other stage. Where they play a few more songs and the crowd pleasing Seven Nations Army. Out of the two night I would say tonight was the best, they seemed to enjoy themselves more and my 6 year old loved it so much he wanted to go again the next night and was most upset that they weren’t playing.
