From July 2006 to November 2007 we ran a monthly music night at the Mad Ferret in Preston. What started out as an attempt to publicise this website soon grew into something else, and even if it ultimately failed with its initial ambition, it turned out to be a lot of fun.
The Indietron nights essentially just consisted of me playing records all night with able support from a host of guest DJs, though in the last
6 or so months we also displayed videos on the big screen in the pub.
There were also badges, birthday goodie bags, self-indulgent playlists and a hell of a lot of nights when I got too drunk to stand up properly.
Sadly I've been blessed with a finite amount of drive and it took a lot of effort to keep the music fresh for each Indietron. It was also time consuming to publicise the event and cobble together videos for people to gawp at. It started to become a bit of a chore and I realised I needed to take a break from it and to concentrate on doing other things for a bit. I didn't want to end up resenting something which had initially been so enjoyable.
So, we've been on holiday for the past few months, but on the 6th June Indietron will appear at the Mad Ferret once more. A one off or the start of the second phase? I don't know yet.
Until then I feel it's a good time to collect all the posters we have created so far for the Indietron nights. John - and latterly Liam - made some great posters over the course of a year and half and I think they helped immensely to create a look and style which made Indietron instantly recognisable amongst other club nights in Preston. So here they are...
